In just about every article I’ve written about how to start an online home based business, I’ve always stated that you need some form of website.

Until now!

I recently learned about a new home business idea where you can work at home online with simple social media skills, utilizing social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

It has nothing to do with your own Facebook and Twitter accounts, and everything to do with the growing demand from companies for people to manage the social media sites of these same companies.

When you visit various business websites online, from brand name corporation to smaller local businesses, you will see that many have Facebook pages and Twitter accounts (as well as social media sites like LinkedIn and Plaxo).   And there are many other companies who have not yet begun to promote their businesses online using social media.

Who keeps these social media accounts up to date?

There is where you come in.

If you have a computer at home and a few free hours a week, whether in the evening or on weekends, you could be contracting your services to these corporations and companies as a Social Media Manager.

You simply find a company, or a number of companies, who are in need of someone to keep their social media contacts and content up to date online. It only takes a few hours a week to manage a number of social media websites, but a company is not interesting in paying one of their current employees to do the job. It is just too costly.

But hiring someone like you to work at home is economical. They do not have to pay you benefits, nor do they have to pay you beyond the hours you put in.

The best part is, you can grow your new home based business by working for multiple companies at the same time.

This is a growing business. Social media is here to stay and companies want to promote their products and services to potential customers through this growing form of communication.  Social Media Managers who get in from the ground up will have the edge in establishing their home businesses.
